Weekend Wear Test: Lace Layering Top

Lace and mesh layering tops are THE tops of the transitional season. These tops are the perfect solution to the “in-between” season of August and September… it’s too hot to wear a sweater, but you’re so excited for fall you want to layer up a bit. To get some styling inspo, we sent eight of our teammates home with our NEW Izzy Lace Layering Top for the weekend. They took their tops out to brunch, on the town, relaxing at home, and hanging with friends all weekend long, and they have a lot to say. Read on for the details of our weekend wear test!

PAYTON, E-COMMERCE MERCHANDISE COORDINATOR

Size XS

First impression: I like how it was fitted and a good transition piece between summer and fall. It's easy to layer and style out with so many looks.

Where you wore it: I wore this look to work, but I’m keeping it in mind to wear to a fall farmers market or outdoor concert.

How you styled: I styled it under a tiered maxi dress with a floral print. I paired it with tall tan boots and minimalistic jewelry.

First Impressions: A great top, everyone needs this top to take any look to the next level. Perfect for going into the warmer months of fall!

Fit/feel: So soft! Perfectly tight and so easy to wear. Light and easy to wear. The perfect layering piece.

How you styled: I put the top under a gray graphic tee with the Nia Tulle Waterfall Skirt.

MONICA, ASSISTANT BUYER

Size L

Where you wore it: I wore this to work and transitioned to hanging with friends.

Style details: I styled it with a casual short sleeve gray t-shirt. I also styled it with my utility one piece that I love.

Overall thoughts: The perfect layering piece that looks gorgeous on its own.

EMMA, GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Size S

Fit/feel: The top was very stretchy and comfortable. It fits like a glove but without being tight, which is unique for a long sleeve lace top. I also loved the neckline and the hem of the shirt because of how it can peek out from under other layers.

Where you wore it: I decided to wear this out exploring Knoxville and vintage shopping on the weekend.

How you styled: I styled it over a light tank and tucked it to make it a cropped look. I then paired it with some balloon pants to go along with the vintage feel, and added my favorite Altar'd State Jewelry pieces in mixed metals.

SHELBY, ASSISTANT BUYER

Size M

First impression: This was one of the most comfortable layering tops I’ve ever bought and will be a statement piece in my fall wardrobe!

How you styled: I chose to style this top with a backless ivory brami underneath to show off the detail in the lace. I wore it two ways – my first look was with a trendy low-rise jean skirt and a chunky necklace. My second look was on the edgy side with a camo pant and statement heel to complement the elegant feel of the lace.

Final thoughts: I love this top because of its versatility, whether wearing it layered under a graphic tee or dress, or on top of a brami as a top, the outfits and layering capabilities are endless!

MOLLY, E-COMMERCE MERCHANDISING MANAGER

Size M

First impression: Love the purple color! It’s a fun twist on a neutral. A not-so-basic basic and closet staple.

Fit/feel: Super stretchy and breathable.

Where I wore it: Dinner with a friend. Styled it over a velvet dress - love to mix textures and patterns!

LEIGHA, PHOTOGRAPHER

Size XL

First impression: I am not usually a big purple girl, but I loved the color of this top. The floral lace is sooo pretty, such a perfect design for fall! I have so many dresses, jumpsuits, and tops that this would look amazing underneath!

Feel: I was nervous that this top would be itchy, as lace tends to be, but it was SO SOFT. Mine was a tighter fit, but it was not constricting at all.

How you styled: I love maximizing my wardrobe by adding layers to my spring/summer outfits. I paired it with a loose, white, linen button-down which makes the outfit perfect for the summer to fall transition. I also added the Lolla Lug Sole Boots and a Monogram Necklace.

HEATHER, BUYER

Size M

Fit/feel: Lace is soft, not scratchy. Fit is true to size. I had a medium but easily could have been in a small for a more fitted look.

Where you wore it: I wore it to Saturday downtown brunch!

How you styled: I styled it underneath our Queen OS tee (which I bought to be a dress on me!) and a pair of knee-high boots.

It’s no secret that a Lace Layering Top is going to be our wardrobe secret weapon this fall. Whether we’re layering it over a bralette, under a tee, or accenting a dress or jumpsuit, this lace top will surely be the hardest working piece in our closets.
